Bill Ballew, 90, of Memphis Texas died Friday, December 23, 2016.
Bill was born in Memphis, Texas on October 4, 1926. He loved Memphis, Texas. He joined almost every club in town and volunteered anywhere he could help. He was one of the first licensed Master Plumbers in Texas and operated Ballew Plumbing for over 50 years. He left high school early in 1945 to join the US Navy where he became a corpsman. He attended AA for 45 years of his life and read his bible and his AA book every morning at 6AM. He was very proud of all of Memphis but he was most proud of the Cemetery. He and Helene would ride around town everyday: the square- the park-the cemetery. They always drove through the cemetery, last, to see if anything needed done.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years Helene Ballew, his parents Raymond and Marie Ballew, his brother Jefferson Ballew, and his two sisters: Gwen and Omega. He is survived by his sons- Donald “Major” Ballew, Billy David Ballew, and John R. “Buddy” Ballew, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Fairview Cemetery Association.
