Kay was always so sweet to me when i was just a boy living on 6th Street just around the corner from her store back in the day.
I know she will be deeply missed...

So sorry to hear of your loss. Kay was a wonderful lady and was always so welcoming to all the neighborhood kids at her store. We all loved helping her with unpacking groceries, sweeping up, taking out trash and being rewarded with a treat. She was so sweet to all the kids. My condolences to your family.
One of my earliest memories was walking to Kay's Grocery store and buying candy. If we didn't have enough money, she would let us bring it back the next time. She also lived across the street from my Aunt Myrtle. I think they were her adoptive parents and for that reason, forever I thought Kay was family....and she was! She also lived next door to Mrs Opal Beatty. Great memories from a great little community where everyone looked after each other. Prayers for peace and comfort for her children and grandchildren. Rest in peace, Ms. Kay! Becky Stokes Wiley, Houston TX
Where the little red wagon meets the... I remember Kay's store being open on St. Patrick's Day. My family would go there to get something to make sandwiches with the little loaves of bread from the parade. Kay was always so gracious.
Kay was the sweetest woman. So many memories of going into her "Kay's Grocery" store. Always kind and smiling!! Heaven gained an angel.
