Rev. Joe George Jernigan's Obituary
Joe George Jernigan, or Brother Joe as he was affectionately known by all, passed from this earthly life and entered his new Heavenly one on January 4th, 2021. He was respected, admired, and loved by many. He will be greatly missed but his family rejoices that He is finally with His Savior.
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock. Private Family Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Brother Joe was born October 15th, 1940 to Joe Parker and Dorothy George Jernigan. The family settled in Shamrock in 1946 and Joe grew up running through the alleys and streets of Shamrock, a town he loved tremendously. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air Force for a short time period.
Brother Joe married the love of his life, D’Anna, on December 6th, 1981. Together, they listened to the leading of God, and served the people of their community as pastors of Calvary Christian Fellowship for the past 40 years. Brother Joe also had a thriving music ministry, ministering to truckers worldwide with the help of his dear friend Bill Mack. Through this ministry, he was awarded the high honor of Kentucky Colonel.
He loved watching Westerns, he was a sucker for a good deal, and he could tell you where to find the best fried chicken almost anywhere. He was a born storyteller, but his favorite story to tell was how Jesus saved him, transformed him, and gave him a new chance at life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Bob Jernigan, his sister Lisa Jernigan, and a baby daughter, Joy Elizabeth Jernigan. He was excited to see them again at the feet of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, D’Anna Jernigan of Shamrock, his sons Joey Jernigan of Arkansas, John Jernigan and wife Julie of Amarillo; his daughters, Tammi Clemmons of Oklahoma City, Joanna Molhusen and husband Kris of Borger, Jessica Vallejos and husband Joseph of Shamrock; his 11 beloved grandchildren, Hayden, Bayleigh, Ean, Alyssa, Abbie, Nolan, Samuel, Mykelti, Josiah, Cheyenne, and Gideon; 2 great grandchildren, Sadie and Peyton; and several nieces, nephews, special friends and spiritual sons and daughters.
The family requests donations be sent to Calvary Christian Fellowship or Meals on Wheels.
