Joe was such a wonderful person. I first met him in 78 or 79 at the lutie store. He and Jerry Bob hauled the cotton to the compress and Joe was just waiting on a load. He told me his testimony and was fired up for Jesus. Joe ministered to everyone no matter their status in life just as the Lord Himself would do. Was friend to so many grieving families who needed someone to conduct a funeral service. He will be greatly missed but will certainly get a "well done good and faithful servant" from Jesus.

One of my heroes! And, without question, one of the most genuine men of God I've ever known. Tough as a boot and an 'ol Warhorse for sure. But with the heart for people like few others I've ever known. I hope the people in and around Shamrock realize how much richer their lives are because of Joe's presence and his ministry there. What a great witness he's been for the Lord. Definitely a life well lived. We had talked only recently about getting together soon and spending the day. I'm sad to say that didn't happen. But, I can rejoice in knowing he's with the Lord and, I guarantee he'll be a few days receiving the rewards of his life that touched so many......including mine! Thank ya, Joe. Love ya!

Brother Joe was so much to us all. I am personally glad that he took sinners under his wing. He was one of two men in my life that were spiritual advisers to me, he encouraged all of us to walk where he walks today. A great loss for us and a great gain for heaven....The Kingdom grows.

Brother Joe, thank you for pastoring my Dad's funeral in February (Pike Smith), and before that, my uncle Joe Paul, my aunt LaDon, and my grandparents Tom and Jessye Smith. Thank you for your great love and many years of service for the people of Shamrock. You are a blessing and a treasure.

Brother Joe has been our lifetime Pastor, friend and mentor. The hardest part of re joining the Navy and moving away from Shamrock was leaving our beloved Church and Pastor. We were there during Calvary Christians infancy and watched it grow into what it is today. Brother Joe and Calvary has been a blessing to Shamrock and us. He will be truly missed but we are comforted to know beyond a doubt he is happy and we will meet again. We pray for his family for there peace and comfort.

I have so many memories of Bro Joe it is hard to name just one. Bro Joe taught me so much about the word he was so good at explaining everything and he was so compassionate about his sheep. We love you Bro Joe and you will forever be with us. We are sad for us but happy for you.
