Coach Adams saw in us the things we did not see in ourselves. He came to me as an 8th grader who ran the sprint races and told me he was going to make me a quarter miler. I thought he was crazy. But for 4 years that is what he did and I had a successful track career in high school because of his ability to challenge us and coach us. In basketball he could stomp his foot louder than anyone. I still don't know how he did that. But the one thing that I take with me as I watch my girls on the basketball court is the infamous Coach Adans phrase: Move your feet! My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Please take heart in knowing what a wonderful influence Coach Adams was on so many of us! I had the pleasure of having him for a coach and teacher in Panhandle. He will always be remembered with honor and affection.

One of my favorite teachers and coaches. He was so genuine and cared about each of his students. Makes me smile remembering how excited he would get on the sidelines during our football games!

Coach Adams was truly one of a kind. He was one of my dad's best friends in Panhandle, a great coach at PHS, and a special family friend. I can remember when my son Rowdy was about 2 years old & I had bought him a pair of purple & gold Converse high tops. Every time Coach Adams would see Rowdy, he'd tease him about his "orange" shoes. He would really get Rowdy going & then get so tickled! I loved his laugh!! What a special man.

We spent many hours traveling on the old yellow bus to BB games and to track meets. JD taught me a lot about both sports. Sad about how time gets away from us. I did not know he had moved to Lubbock or was sick. RIP Coach!

Jimmie Don was a caring and one of the good guys. He also had such a great sense of humor. I still remember when we all had take that silly literacy test - his comments were priceless. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be missed.

Coach Adams was truly one of the best basketball coaches @ PHS & I loved him dearly. He pushed me hard to be a better ball player & person while smiling big the whole time with that bright twinkle in his eyes. He loved coaching, teaching & sharing his philosophy about life. He inspired me @ a young age to have grit, determination and Pantherette pride! God bless you Coach Adams as you certainly blessed me. Prayers and loving thoughts for all of his family.
