Jeanine Matney's Obituary
Jeanine Matney, 83, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on August 2, 2023, in Denver.
Graveside Service is scheduled for 10 am, Saturday, August 19th at Citizens Cemetery, Clarendon,
Texas. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Jeanine was born in Amarillo, TX on November 15, 1939. She graduated from Amarillo High
School in 1957. In 1964, Jeanine received a BS in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University and a MA from the University of Denver in 1972.
Jeanine worked as a teacher for the Denver Public Schools for 31 years. She enjoyed reading,
traveling, skiing, tennis, and swimming. Jeanine also enjoyed her groups of friends and spending time with them, especially Book Club and celebrating friends with birthday dinners. She was actively involved with the Ronald McDonald House and a member of the First Trinity Methodist Church.
Jeanine is preceded in death by her father, Virgil Lee Matney and her mother, Iris Slaughter Matney,
her niece, Cay King and her great niece, Johnna King.
Jeanine is survived by her sisters, Iris Anne Matney, Verna Loy Wyatt (Al), and Lee Jackson. Also, her nieces Ginger Martin (Ralph), Callie Burns, Allie Vainwright (Glenn), and nephews, Thomas Gerald, Matt Plunkett, Rob Plunkett, Sol Jackson, Eli Jackson. Also, eight great nieces, Bailey, Matney, Robin, Teara, Audrey, Starla, Rebecca, Gayle and eight great nephews, Tate, Andrew, Dustin, David, Wyatt, Carson, Braggy, and Griffin. She loved all her nieces and nephews dearly and considered them as her children.
