James David "JD" Clay Jr.'s Obituary
James David Clay, Jr. of Shamrock passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 23 days in Shamrock.
Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 08, 2024 at Shamrock Cemetery with Johnny Carter, officiating.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
JD was born September 2, 1942 in Amarillo, TX to James David and Eula Lee Hefley Clay, Sr.. He graduated from Shamrock High School in 1961. JD was a very talented Iron Worker. He opened Jay’s Radiator shop when he moved back to Shamrock. Later in life he created metal art some of which can be seen around town when coming into Shamrock from the south.
JD married Billie Joyce (BJ) Thomas in June, 1991. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing and he taught several children how to fish, and his pets. He was rumored to be a poaching expert. JD was also known for his BBQ and fried fish.
JD was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son Jeff Clay; a step-daughter, Terri Thomas Sorelle; and a step-grandson, Scott Sorelle.
He is survived by his stepson, Tommy Thomas; stepson-in-law, Jack Sorelle; step grandson, John Sorelle; a brother, Kirk Clay and wife June; nieces; Shannon Bink and husband, John, and Amanda Davis and husband, Gary; great nieces, Tobi Davis and Karsyn Bink ; great nephews, Dallten Davis and Jarrett Bink; and numerous relatives and friends.
Memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels in Shamrock.
