Gary Don Ellison's Obituary
Gary Don Ellison, 66, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, in Austin, Texas.
Graveside services will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, with Thacker Haynes, pastor of McLean United Methodist Church, officiating.
Gary Don was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Waco, Texas, to James Gilbert Ellison and Irene Mae Ellison. The family lived in Quitaque, Texas, before moving to McLean. Gary Don was a 1969 graduate of McLean High School. He attended West Texas State University before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in 1973. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Gary Don married Nila Richards in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 6, 1973. They become the proud parents of two sons, Austin Cole Ellison and Stephen Robert Ellison. Gary Don was athletic and played football and other sports for the McLean Tigers. He coached his sons in all sports and was captain of the Super Seniors Tennis Team in Horseshoe Bay.
He was a real estate broker for more than 40 years and the owner of Commercial Investment Brokerage based in Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marsha Ellison Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Nila Richards Ellison of Austin; sons Austin Cole Ellison and Stephen Robert Ellison, both of Austin; grandson Austin James Ellison of Austin; brothers James Douglas Ellison and wife, Linda, of Savannah, Georgia; and Stephen Gil Ellison and wife, Tracey, of Houston; and his nieces and nephews.
