Gary Don Ellison, 66, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, in Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, with Thacker Haynes, pastor of McLean United Me Read Obituary
I'm sorry I could not make it. I will always remember Gary of coming to save my sister Tami from the fire escape slide on the old high school. She climbed up the slide , but once she got up there she wouldn't come down, so Gary had to climb up there and get her. Prayers with the family.
Gary is my first cousin. I o Lyft heard of his passing today Friday. I live in Colorado or I would be there tomorrow. Love to everyone

Please accept my deepest sympathies at Gary's passing. Although I was only blessed to know Gary for a few years, during that time, he became a true friend and a great mentor. He was quick to laugh, helped put troubles in perspective, was always willing to take a phone call, to provide feedback when asked, and went out of his way to give credit where credit was due. Gary's passing is a great loss to our community and I am going to personally miss his friendship and his guidance. I only wish that I had been able to get to know him sooner.
