Evelyn Laveta Mackey's Obituary
Evelyn Laveta Mackey, 79, of Memphis died Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in Memphis.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Evelyn was born August 30, 1940 in Paris, Texas to Elbert and Mildred Jones Haire. She had been a lifetime resident of Memphis and was a CNA prior to her retirement. She was a caretaker for many people and saw the good in everyone. She was a loving nurturing grandmother and helped raised her family. She was always very supportive and outgoing. Evelyn was a lifelong friend to many and was very active in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Ricky Erwin and Joey Gilchrest; and a sister, Virginia Lunsford.
She is survived by her son, Terry Mackey; a brother, Henry Haire of Clarendon; five grandchildren, Tracey Gilchrest and wife Kayla, Micheal Gilchrest and fiancé Anna Soto, Kiera Gilchrest, Emily Mackey, and Darren Mackey; four great grandchildren, Jasmyne Gilchrest, Carson Mackey, Kingsley Mackey, and Julian Carvajal; and several nieces and nephews.
