So sorry to hear of Mr. Howerton's passing. MANY Little League memories of this man and his passion for baseball and "HIS" kids....Also remember many school Easter egg hunts finishing in the Howerton garage eating easter eggs....UH!!!....May your memories be many and your troubles be few.....

Stephanie, So sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I know you loved him a lot.
I remember Mr. Howerton well. He and his kids were part of my childhood growing up in Groom. It's funny what you stays with you as you get older. But I was playing Little League baseball, about 10 years old or so back in the 1960s, at the Groom baseball field and got hit right in the ribs with the baseball by the pitcher.
Dannia was the home plate umpire and had that bulky soft chest protector that you held. I was down in the batters box and couldn't breathe. He took that protector off and put me on top of it. Finally got my breath and went off to first base.
