So sorry to find out about your loss. Bill will be greatly missed by all of McLean. Our prayers and sympathy to the family . Thank God for the loan of such a swell person.
Dear Lynn & family, I was so sorry to hear about your loss of Bill. McLean has lost a part of it's history as so many of us remember Bill Reeves from our childhood & him being a leader of the community. I heard about it from Rick's wife informing me of Rick's condition from his surgery. God Bless.
I will deeply miss my uncle Bill. They don't make them like him anymore. From him bargaining with me about getting to cut his beard off if my band-aide sticked after applying him Neosporin to visiting in Reno and going up to Silver Dollar city. I always will have fond memories of a fine man and a genius!
Our condolences for your loss. We eill kepp you in our prayers. May God bless and comfort you.
Upon marrying into the Reeves clan, no member of that welcoming family made me feel quite so welcome as Bill. To know him was to sense that there was tremendous depth and a wealth of wisdom behind those friendly eyes--and of course there was. His unmatched sense of humor, equal parts intelligent, earthy, tawdry, and dry, required an extra dose of attention to comprehend, which was always rewarded. Fortunately, Bill graciously gave time for slower folks like me to catch up with him. He never held his intelligence over anyone. My memories of Bill will be stirred whenever I consider what it means to be honest, unpretentious, self-deprecating, and kind hearted. One of his most endearing characteristics, in my estimation, was his ability to be tender despite exuding a certain world-weariness. I sense that Bill saw a lot of things in his life that could have made him disillusioned, jaded, and hard. If he was any of these things he never let on to me. I will also remember Bill's example and how increasingly rare are qualities he exuded: Citizenship. Decency. Restraint. Speaking up for those who couldn't. Neither will I forget his prophetic voice, embodied in scathing, side-splitting letters to the op-ed editor. I like to imagine that one of the perqs of being a newspaper editor was the perpetual hope of receiving one of Bill's brilliant submissions.I did not know Bill as well as I would have liked, but what I did know of him, I adored. With deepest affection...
Our sympathy to Lynn and family. Bill and Lynn were long-time friends and always fun to be around. We miss seeing them with the Darcys when they came for the Cowboy Symposium. Prayers to all during this sad time.Don and Betty BlairRuidoso, NM
