Yonathan Mendoza's Obituary
Yonathan Mendoza, 21, of Wheeler, Texas died Friday, August 25, 2023 in Mexico.
Mass and Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Wheeler High School Gymnasium in Wheeler with Father Marco Gonzalez and later Erron Mercer, officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Yonathan was born December 12, 2001 in Pampa, Texas to Zoila Soto and Pedro Mendoza. He was a lifetime resident of Wheeler where he was a graduate of Wheeler High School. He was a Wheeler Mustang through and through. While in High School, he was the unsung hero according to Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football magazine where he served all his years as the manager for the Wheeler Mustangs. He loved sports and was wanting to be a coach. He wouldn't let anyone know of his struggles and that never kept him down. He was loved by everyone and was always there for everyone. He was an extraordinary person. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents; an uncle; and a cousin, Jaqueline Soto.
Survivors include his parents, Pedro Mendoza and Zoila Soto of Wheeler; his sister, Leslie Mendoza of Wheeler; his maternal grandparents, Maria and Placido Soto; his paternal grandparents, Socorro Puentes and Javier Mendoza; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
