CLARENDON SERVICES- 2:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2006 in the St. Stephens Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Melvin Brooks, Pastor, Elder Jeff Riles, & Rev. Jim Kelly, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery William was born December 31, 1956 in Clarendon, Texas to Walter & Essie Jean McCampbell. William known to many as "Rooster" attended and graduated from Clarendon High School in 1976. He remained in Clarendon for years and held various jobs employed at the local lumber yard, also as a cook at local restaurants, and finally obtaining a job with Burlington Northern Railroad. William united in holy matrimony to LaRhonda Hicks on August 15, 1981 and later divorced in the early 90's. He moved to Amarillo in 1984, where he obtained employment with Weyerhaeuser and worked until May 1994, at which time he was hospitalized. He never fully recovered and spent the remainder of his life in a nursing facility. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his father, Walter McCampbell; 2 grandsons, William Smith and Sean Lowrie; 1 brother Walter McCampbell, Jr.; his grandparents B.W. Smith, Hamilton & Della McCampbell; SURVIVORS - his grandmother, Beatrice Smith of Clarendon; his mother, Essie Jean McCampbell of Clarendon; 6 daughters, LaShonda Smith of Clarendon, Tangela Smith of Lubbock, Clarissa Smith of Clarendon, Stephanie Smith of Amarillo, Summer McCampbell of Ohio, and Dorothy Jean McCampbell of Amarillo; 3 sons, DeWayne Gardner of Oklahoma, Danny R. McCampbell of Clarendon, Broderick McCampbell of Amarillo; 4 sisters, Barbara Smith of Clarendon, Geraldine Kelly of Ft. Worth, Billie Phillips, and Joe Vivian McCampbell of Los Angeles; 2 brothers, Stanley McCampbell of Amarillo, and Danny D. McCampbell of Richmond, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
