William "Andy" Anderson Gardenhire's Obituary
SERVICES – 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in the First United Methodist Church in Memphis with Rev. Bobby Wilson, officiating.
INTERMENT- Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Andy was born November 1, 1931 in Wellman to Willie Lee and Mary Lee Jenkins Gardenhire. Andy graduated from Memphis High School in 1950 and was a member of the 1949 state basketball team. He married Patricia Alexander on September 15, 1951. He later received his bachelors and masters degrees from West Texas State University. Andy was a teacher and a coach for Tulia, Lakeview, Quanah, and Plainview, then he was a superintendent for O’Donnell and Hart. After his work in the public schools, he became a life insurance agent and estate planner where he enjoyed helping people. He was proud to obtain a lifetime membership of MDRT. Andy was a member of the Memphis Lions Club and the First United Methodist Church in Memphis.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – his parents; 2 brothers, Billie Pearl Gardenhire and Carrol Lee Gardenhire; and a sister, Ruby Vesta McNeil.
SURVIVORS – his wife, Patricia Gardenhire of Memphis; a son, Heath Gardenhire of New Orleans, Louisiana; 2 daughters, Sheila Gardenhire of Granbury and Dena Melton of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Hamm and husband TyScott of Lubbock, Jennifer Mitchell and husband Jerold of Ft. Worth, and Colt Melton of Corpus Christi; 3 great grandchildren, Hadley and Lyla Hamm, and Weston Mitchell.
