SERVICES – 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating.
INURNMENT – Will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
CREMATION & ARRANGEMENTS - Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Wanda Posey Phillips was born in Memphis on May 10, 1924 to Quintus Erwin and Katie Lois Simmons Posey. She was a graduate of Memphis High School. Wanda married Ray Bruce Phillips on November 1, 1942 in Estelline. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening especially her roses. She was an excellent seamstress, made clothing and decorative objects for her family. She crocheted many doilies, table cloths, and afghan throws for members of the family. She collected chickens and roosters in many forms of artwork. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and hearing of all their ventures and delighted in all their photos.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – her parents; her husband, R.B. on December 16, 1996; one son, Mark Bruce Phillips; a grandchild, Evan Meredith Kistner; a brother, Edward Edwin Posey; two sisters, Katie Vernell Crawley and Boncille Hastings.
SURVIVORS – two daughters, Katie Dianne Sweatt and husband Wayne of Memphis and Cecile Elaine Kistner of Houston; She was Minmie to the grandchildren: Gregory Wayne Sweatt and wife Jayne of Cochise, Arizona, Mark Bruce Sweatt of Memphis, and Justin-Phillips Kistner of Houston; She was GG to the great grandchildren: SPC Colton Sweatt of Fort Bliss, Texas, Preston Wayne Sweatt of Stephenville, and Katie Darlene Sweatt of Clarendon.
MEMORIALS- The family request memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church in Memphis.
