Wanda was born on March 30, 1942, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Frank and Hazel (Thomas) Dodson and was the oldest of two daughters. She grew up in the Dempsey Community near Sweetwater, Oklahoma. Wanda married her high school sweetheart, Jacob George (J.G.) Bachmann, on April 22, 1959. She graduated high school from Reydon High School, and soon afterward, she and JG moved to Sayre, OK, where they began to rear their daughters. Then in 1965, she and JG moved to Shamrock, TX, where she was active in the Shamrock Methodist church and the Shamrock community. After JG left the grocery business, he and Wanda built two businesses: The Busy Bee, a ladies and accessories store, and Showplace Video, where they rented movies and video games. She also supported their small farm/ranching operation.
Wanda was always active with her daughters' activities: Church youth group, Girl Scouts, 4H, and several school sports and extracurricular activities. She also enjoyed different hobbies, including sewing, scrapbooking, genealogy, cake decorating, quilting, ceramics, and rose and vegetable gardening. She was always curious. She was never afraid to tackle a problem. She set the example for her daughters to be open-minded to and open-hearted to those around them. Wanda was a blessing to those who crossed her path. She always had an ear to listen to, gave an encouraging word, or provided a helping hand. Wanda possessed a servant's heart and faithfully cared for family and friends. She had a deep love of and concern for people.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Washington and Hazel Larue Thomas Dodson, and her younger sister, Frankie Larue Dodson Cockerell.
Her surviving family members include: her husband of 63 years, Jacob George (J.G.) Bachmann; three daughters, Rhonda and Michael Bentley, Regina and Keith Krug and Janice and Lowry Schaub; six grandchildren, Amanda and Matt LeFever, Coleman and Rachel Bentley, Jarred Krug, Jetonne and Graeme Collett, Paul and Lauren Schaub, and Leasha and Kyle Styglar;
