Wade L. Kirk's Obituary
Wade L. Kirk, 82, of McLean, TX passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, in Amarillo.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Robertson Route 66 Chapel in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 26th from 1:00 – 6:00 PM with family receiving friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.

Wade L. Kirk was born on August 27, 1940, in Grimes, OK, to Elmo Wade and Freeda Mae (Marshall) Kirk. Wade grew up in Grimes, OK, and attended school at Berlin, OK and finishing his GED later. He met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Nelda Rose Franks, in Tulia, TX. Four months after meeting, they were married on April 20, 1963, in Nelda’s parents’ home in Tulia. They lived in Tulia and Amarillo Texas before moving McLean, TX, in 1969 and have been residents for the last 54 years.
Wade was a skilled mechanic. With a little bit of grease and some thought, he could fix anything with a motor in it. Later in life, Wade owned and managed Kirk’s Auto Supply in McLean for 21 years before selling the business and finally retiring in 2014.
Outside of the mechanic shop, Wade was also involved in farming and ranching where he had his own herd of cattle. Wade also enjoyed flying airplanes and even had his pilot’s license. He liked fast cars and liked to run races with them. He also liked to hunt and would go on a yearly hunting trip with friends.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chris Wade; five brothers, Gordon, Kenneth, J.L., George, and Rod; and three sisters, Louise Walker, Dianna Conway, and Betty Keahey.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Kirk, of McLean; brother, Wallace Kirk and wife, Edith, of Colbert, OK; two sisters, Sharon Tignor and husband, Dickie, of Cheyenne, OK, and Margie Anderson and husband, John, of Sweetwater, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Nelson Dwyer.
