Viola Mae Johnson's Obituary
Viola Mae Johnson, 86, of Memphis died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Childress.
Private family graveside will be Friday, February 5, 2021 in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Thomas Peppers, officiating.
Viewing will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Viola was born September 6, 1934 in South Town, Arkansas to Hughler and Emma Landers. She married Martin Johnson on March 3, 1951 in Memphis. She had been a resident of Memphis since 1950. Viola worked as a sales clerk for Perry Brothers, Greene's Dry Goods, Memphis Tire and Supply (Ferrel's), Until Then, and Lockhart Pharmacy in Memphis and worked as a receptionist for many years for Spicer Funeral Home and Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis. Viola was honored by the Memphis Chamber of Commerce for salesperson of the year in the 1970's. She loved people and never met a stranger. Viola enjoyed baking, cooking, and having people over to her house. She loved the Lord with all of heart and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1991; and her sisters, Thelma Bamburg, Mildred Neal, Opal Bruso, and Betty Boyster.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Debbie Neel and husband Earnest of Memphis; her granddaughter, Tanya Neel of Springdale, Arkansas; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family request memorials be sent to Fairview Cemetery Association or Hall County EMS.
