Vernon Rogers Davenport's Obituary
Vernon Davenport, 88, of Shamrock passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 in Shamrock.
Services will be Saturday, December 21, 2019 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Shamrock, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Vernon Appel, officiating.
Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park, Vernon, TX at 3:00 PM with Rev. Steven Brummett officiating.
Viewing will be from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Thursday and visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Vernon was born April 5, 1931 in Vernon to Solomon and Nola Wright Davenport. He had lived in Shamrock since 1966 and he was a Lutheran. Vernon loved hunting, ranching, playing dominoes and cards. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed helping others. He had been a supporter of Shamrock through the years. Vernon owned Big Vern’s Steakhouse in Shamrock and enjoyed greeting people when they came in.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Clemmie; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Davenport of Shamrock; one son, Vernon Roger Davenport, Jr. and wife Donna of Lubbock; one daughter, Nancy Roach and husband Greg of Olney; two Step-daughters, Sherry Robertson and Jerry of Shamrock and Cindy Carlisle and Steward of Birmingham Ala.; 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent to a favorite charity.
