FUNERAL SERVICES – 1:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis, with Rev. Judge Elliot Smith, Jr and Pastor Clemmie Smith officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Verdia Lee Smith Steptoe was born April 21, 1932 in Clarksville, Tx to Rev. Judge E. and Rosie Lee Smith. She married Edwin Lee Steptoe and resided in Wichita Falls for 30 years before moving to Amarillo in June 2009. Verdia Lee worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years. She was a member St. John’s Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and Mt. Zion’s Baptist Church in Amarillo.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – her parents; her husband; 4 children; 3 grandsons; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
SURVIVORS – 4 children, Carolyn Steptoe Mason and Rosie Hollie both of Amarillo, Malculm Steptoe and wife Peggy of Kansas, and Danny McFalls and wife Patricia of Memphis; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; 26 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
