Tony Joe Weatherly's Obituary
Tony Joe Weatherly of Amarillo, TX passed away on the evening of January 23, 2024 at Landmark Nursing Home in Amarillo at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 8 days. Graveside Services with military honors will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, TX.

Tony was born July 15th, 1937, in Memphis TX to Haskell Everett Weatherly and Mary Irene Weatherly. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1954. The Airforce became his next destination with an 8-year service in the military. He served for the Base Commander in the south China sea of Taiwan and had various duties for the Embassy. After the service, he opened a gas station in Hedley Texas and dipped his toe in the land of Entrepreneurship. He transitioned to the Helium plant in Amarillo Texas and worked for the Bureau of Mines. Life’s journey soon landed him in the Hospital Administration arena where he utilized his skills to support the management of various patient care facilities and finished his professional life in this environment caring for those most in need of assistance. In his retirement years, he worked as a Security Guard, Transportation Manager, and switchboard operator.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Irene Weatherly; one sister, Charlotte Pond; and one brother, Lloyd Weatherly.
He is survived by his children, Scott Weatherly, D’Aunn Bednarz, Kirk Weatherly, and Ronda Hanstad; his brother, Kearby Weatherly; and many grandchildren.
