Tommy Puryear's Obituary
Tommy Puryear, 74, of Wheeler, Texas died Sunday, March 31, 2024 in Wheeler, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in Wheeler Cemetery with Rev. Larry Mitchell, officiating. Viewing will be held Tuesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Tommy was born on November 28, 1949 in Boulder City, NV to the lateThomas Gordon Puryear and Peggy (Show) Puryear. He was raised on the family ranch east of Wheeler. He married Karen Austin on August 14, 1971 in Borger, TX. Tommy was a Godly man who was a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler. He lived a selfless life, always helping others and willing to give to anyone in need whenever he had the opportunity. He served his community in many capacities. He was a Wheeler County Commissioner for 16 years, followed in his father’s footsteps as a member and past President of the Parkview Hospital Board for many years and was a volunteer firefighter and EMS worker for Wheeler County. His generosity and kindness touched the lives of many people.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Penny Puryear Burt.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Puryear of Wheeler, Texas; a son, Dustin Puryear of Wheeler, Texas; a daughter, Erica Puryear Clark of Wheeler, Texas; his grandchildren, Brylea Clark of Wheeler, Texas and Alexis Puryear of Canyon, Texas; and many other family members and close personal friends.
The family request memorials be sent to Wheeler Livestock Association, First Baptist Church of Wheeler, or Wheeler Area Activities c/o Wheeler Chamber of Commerce.
