MEMPHIS
SERVICES- 10:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the First Christian Church in Memphis with Trudy Casto and Justin Smith, officiating.
INTERMENT- Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Tom was born August 16, 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri to Oliver Knox and Bessie Irene Thomas Posey. He married Juanita Faye Coleman on May 16, 1941 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Tom had been a resident of Memphis most of his adult life. Tom had been a Minister of the Christian Church faith for many years. He started his ministry in Wellington from March 1942 until September 1943, then in Memphis from September of 1943 until May 1947, then in Lamar, Colorado from May 1947 until February 1948, then in Mauldin, Missouri from February 1948 until October 1952, then back in Memphis from October 1952 until March 1956, then he went to Amarillo where he was the first Minister for the Paramount Terrace Christian Church from March 1956 until June 1963, and then back in Memphis permanently at the First Christian Church from June 1963 until March 1991. Tom served the Memphis community for many years and was known as everyone’s pastor. He was also the Chaplain for the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department for as long as 48 years. Tom also drove the school bus for many years for Memphis ISD. He was also involved in the Memphis Ministerial Alliance where he served as their Treasurer for many years.
PRECEDED IN DEATH- his parents; his wife in 2000; his brother, Bill Posey; and his sister, Pearl Grimes.
SURVIVORS- his son, Brad Posey and wife Sandy of Elk City, Oklahoma; 3 daughters, Sue Robinson and husband Dale of Clarendon, Jo Ella Pate and husband Tony of Memphis, and Kaye Hansard and husband Mike of Hereford; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
