Thomas Jacob Swigart Sr.'s Obituary
Thomas “Tom” Jacob Swigart Sr. of Mobeetie, went to be with The Lord on April 27, 2020.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Wheeler.
Tom was born on April 1, 1949 in Clinton, Illinois to Harry and Genevieve Swigart.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the US Army from 1969-1975. He belonged to Recon Platoon Co E 2nd Bn 1st Infantry 196th Infantry BDE while he served over seas. Throughout his time of service he earned many awards including: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
He married Emma Taylor on May 22, 1976 and they remained until her passing in 2014. He had been a resident of Mobeetie since 1982.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Swigart; his parents Harry and Genevieve Swigart; brother Jerry Swigart; sister Rose Kennedy.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Swigart; son Jacob Swigart; daughter Lori Swigart; son Thomas Swigart Jr; son Jerry Swigart; daughter Judy Swigart; brother Eric Swigart and wife Zala; sister Cathy Swigart; brother Danny Swigart; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tom loved the outdoors and it was his wish to have his and his wife’s ashes spread in Yellowstone National Park.
The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund or veterans charity of your choice.
