GRAVESIDE SERVICES- 1:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2013 at Odessa Cemetery, Gotebo, OK with the Rev. Bill Hoenshell, officiating.
Burial will be follow under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Thelma Ward was born July 26, 1916 in Gotebo, OK to Jim and Iva Ridenour Harris. She married Bond Ward in 1932.
During World War II, Thelma was very proud to have worked at Douglas Aircraft Factory in Midwest City, OK helping build C47 airplanes for the war effort. Most of their married life, Thelma and Bond lived and worked on ranches in Oklahoma and Texas. Bond died in 1970 and Thelma moved to Lubbock where she worked at Methodist Hospital for 17 years. During those years she did volunteer work with Contact Lubbock and Lubbock Senior Citizens Retirement Program. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Her greatest love was her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bond; her parents, two brothers: J. D. Harris and Jess Smith and a sister, Retha Strickland.
SURVIVORS- a daughter, Linda Wischkaemper & husband Bill of Lubbock; a son, J. D. Ward & wife Billie of McLean; Grandchildren – Marc & Tabra Wischkaemper, & Chris & Michelle Wischkaemper of Lubbock, Amy Payne of Stillwater, OK, Dennis & Allison Ward of Hydro, OK; Great Grandchildren, Cassi, Caleb, Jake & Aspen Wischkaemper, Callie Payne, and Brennen Ward; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Bee Hive Assisted Living Facility for their loving care of Thelma for the past four years.
