Terry Lee Wansley passed away on September 18, 2017, in a motor vehicle collision in Clayton, NM. Born to Rufus and Tommie Wansley on his father’s birthday on February 23, 1952, Terry grew up in Lakeview, TX. He was valedictorian of the Lakeview High School class of 1970 and was a state high school tennis champion. Terry attended Texas Tech University, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. After graduating with a degree in accounting, he had a rewarding career in the watch and jewelry business.
Terry was the consummate golfer and played many fabled golf courses throughout Scotland, in particular the Old Course at St. Andrews, earlier this summer. A man of great energy and endurance, he hiked extensively in the mountains of Colorado every year and enjoyed finding new ways to challenge himself physically.
Terry was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and participated in a men’s Bible study group. He lived out his Christian faith through volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
Terry is survived by his wife, Jane Spillman Wansley; cousin Sandy Smith and wife Sherrie; and cousin David Payne. He is also survived by mother-in-law Mary Spillman; sister-in-law Ann Spillman, husband Jeff Margolies, and their daughter Caroline; and brother-in-law Pat Spillman, wife Toni Hennike, and their daughter Hannaka.
Donations in Terry’s memory may be made to Meals on Wheels.
