Teddie Ray McCurley's Obituary
Teddie Ray McCurley, 88, of Wheeler, died Thursday, December 20, 2018, in Canadian, Texas.
Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 4:00 pm in Mobeetie Cemetery in Mobeetie with Pastor Rodney Weatherly and Pastor Jerry Howe, officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Teddie was born April 17, 1930 in Whittenburg, Hutchison County, Texas to Frank Claude and Trentie Lee White McCurley. He married Dortha Mae Everett on January 19, 1952 in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma. Teddie had been a refinery operator most of his life and had worked for several companies, with Occidental Petroleum Corp. being his last employer. Teddie had lived in Wheeler since 1991, and prior to that he had lived in Pampa. He loved hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed woodcrafts and mowing his yard. Several years ago, Teddie had won the “Good Guy Award” from Channel 7 News for helping a lady on the side of the road, who needed medical care, and Teddie took her to the nearest hospital to save the woman’s life. Teddie loved his grandkids. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Mae Everett McCurley on July 8, 2018; his parents; a daughter, Kathy McCurley Howe; 5 brothers, Doyle, Bill, Gene, Leroy, Dick McCurley; and by a sister, Peggy McCurley.
Survivors include his sons, Randy McCurley and wife Carol of Mobeetie, Bryan McCurley of McLean; a son-in-law, Jerry Howe; a daughter Becky and husband Lee Odell of White Deer; a sister Sue Thomason and husband Sonny of Palo Cedro, California; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and by 7 great-great grandchildren.
The family requests a memorials be sent to Mobeetie Cemetery.
