Dr. Susanna Lee Goodin's Obituary
Dr. Susanna Goodin, professor of Philosophy, lifelong advocate for curious minds, and unapologetic cat enthusiast, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025.
Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in Goodnight Cemetery in Goodnight, Texas.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon, Texas.
Susanna was a 1978 graduate of Claude High School and received her PhD in Philosophy from Rice University.
Susanna devoted her life to exploring life's biggest questions and helping others do the same. For over three decades at the University of Wyoming, her classes in environmental ethics, feminist ethics, human sexuality and other disciplines of philosophy were legendary for their rigor, depth, and her dry wit. Susanna was a tenured professor with numerous published writings and served as department head for a time.
Susanna's home was wall to wall books, art and puzzles and warmed by the presence of her family of cats. Her backyard was an oasis of flowers in the summers. Susanna loved to entertain friends in her home. She spent her free time painting, beadwork, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and David Magar of Goodnight. Also surviving her are nieces Kate Freeman and Sarah Kite and their families. Hadrian, Gideon, and Bangs (aka Steve) will miss her morning treats and silly songs.
She will be remembered by her cherished circles of friends and the countless lives she shaped through her fierce tenacity and unique perceptions.
