Steven William Short's Obituary
Steven William Short passed away on November 5, 2025, at his home in Claude, TX, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on December 23, 1959, Steve spent over five decades living in Central New York before he and Laurel relocated to Claude, TX. He graduated from the Skaneateles Class of 1978.
Steve held positions at Sennett Sales, Montross Farms, Reed Farms, Spano Excavating, P + C Foods, Scotch Mountain Farms, and Willow Bend Dairy. He most recently retired from his role with the Texas Department of Transportation.
In his free time, he enjoyed Moto Cross, team roping, horse and tractor pulls, parades, and bowling.
Steven was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Beverly Short. He is survived by his wife, Laurel; his son, William; and his daughter, Rachel, all residing in Texas. His “adopted children” James Hurt and Charlene Childers whom he considered his own. Additionally, he leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Furthermore, Steve is survived by nine siblings: Connie and Ted Scriven, Mary and Dan Dobrovosky, Martin and Cindy, Carol and Jack Wagner, Gary, Dan and Marge, David and Lori, Scott, and Brian.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #344 in Claude, Texas. Funeral services will take place at Grace Chapel Church in Skaneateles, New York, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
