Shirley Jo "Nanny" Galmor was born at home January 19, 1936 in Mobeetie, TX to L.D. and Golda McCauley. She was the youngest of four daughters. She grew up in Mobeetie and married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Don, on March 13, 1955. They were married 58 years before Bobby passed in 2013. They had many adventures in their early years while Bobby was in the Air Force stationed in Knoxville, TN. They moved back to the Panhandle and while Bobby began working in the oil patch, Shirley was a dedicated homemaker who had her hands full with five young children. When the kids were all in school, Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for JR Barber and did the books for Damor Pump & Supply at night. She was very involved with her kids' activities; she was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout leader for her daughters' troops. She was involved in the Shamrock PTA and the Shamrock Boosters Club.
Her house was the go-to place for all kids. She loved having kids over for campouts, sleepovers, car hood sledding, and just good ol' fashioned fun. Every kid was always welcome at Nanny's house and she always had room for more at her kitchen table. Even in her later years when her kids were grown, her house became the favorite hangout for her grandkids and great-grandkids and their friends.
When all the kids were raised, Shirley opened up Shamrock Greenhouse & Floral. She loved growing plants and creating beautiful flower arrangements for the public. People loved going to her greenhouse because it was a pleasant place to visit. She was known far and wide for her compassionate heart, infectious laugh, and her green thumb.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Galmor, parents, L.D. & Golda McCauley, two sisters Joyce Roberts and Marie Alverson.
She is survived by one sister, Pat Hester and husband Berry of Hewitt, TX. Five children, Steve Galmor and Rudas Galmor of Shamrock, TX, Leslie Pritchard of Dallas, TX, Traci and husband Doug Coleman, Samnorwood, TX, and Shawn and husband John Zaiontz of San Angelo, TX. She also had 14 grandchildren, 22 great and three nephews, Jim Bannister, David Roberts, and Gilbert Hester.
