Sara Dean Wyatt Messer's Obituary
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in the First Baptist Church in Claude, Texas with Rev. Dick Gravley, officiating.
At Mrs. Messer's request, her body was donated to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Arrangements are by Robertson Claude Chapel.
Sara died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Brookhaven Care Home in Amarillo, where she had wonderful care from Jodie Waters, RN, her staff and BSA Hospice.
Sara was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi on September 9, 1943 to Margaret Frances Owings (1918-2012) and William Henry Lasley (1916-1991). Margaret married Leo B. Wyatt (1919-1991) in 1944 and they raised her two daughters. The family moved from Aberdeen to Texas in 1945. Sara attended school in Amarillo, graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1962 and attended Amarillo College. She worked for Santa Fe Railroads, American Land Title and Chicago Title. She loved her sweet family, her work and enjoyed traveling.
On July 17, 1998 in Armstrong County, Texas, she married Tommy Keith Messer. They lived in Claude where she was Treasurer of Armstrong County. She was involved in the community theatre in Claude and was in many productions at the Gem Theatre. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; her daughter, Stacy Allen and husband, Gary; a grandson, Zach and a granddaughter, Sydney; her stepson, Clay Messer and wife, Cathy of Maryland and grandson, Hunter Messer of Canyon; 2 sisters, Karen Wyatt McMahon and husband, Kevin and Billie Wyatt Chapman and her husband, John; 6 brothers, John Wyatt and wife, Gail, Tom Wyatt and wife, Cathy, Rick Wyatt and wife, Gwen, Greg Lasley and wife, Cheryl, James Lasley and wife, Shirlene, Donald Lasley Bottorff and wife, Anna.
The family suggest donations be made to Harrington Cancer Center, BSA Hospice or your favorite charity.
