Sandra Kay Stroud's Obituary
Sandra Kay Stroud went to be with her Lord January 17, 2020 in her daughter's home in Pampa, Texas at age 72.
Family Directed Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Trinity Fellowship Church in Pampa.
Cremation & Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Sandra Kay Janssen Stroud was born July 11, 1947 in Borger, Texas to Charlie and Betty Janssen. She moved to Brownsville, Texas at around 9 years of age with her family which included a twin sister and younger brother.
During elementary, she was in Girl Scouts of America for several years. During junior high and high school, she enjoyed Teenage Square Dance Club. She Graduated from Brownsville High School in 1965 and Harlingen Business College in 1966. She had worked as a secretary until her medical retirement in 1999, where she retired from DPS in San Antonio, Texas. The job she was most proud of secretary to one of the Sergeant of Highway Patrol for 12 years. Sandra also worked for the Brownsville Herald for several years as a proof reader with her father Charlie Janssen who retired from the Herald after 35 years.
She was a member of Brownsville Elks Lodge #1026 Women's Auxiliary where she spent many years helping to raise money for the Elks Cripple Children's Hospital. Hobbies include collecting candy dishes, working puzzles, going to garage sales, and dancing country music.
She accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior at Trinity Fellowship Church, Pampa, on January 5, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Betty Janssen.
Survivors include two children, Carla Johnson and husband Bobby of Pampa, Texas and Jack Stroud of Brownsville, Texas; Five grandchildren, Amanda Rodriguez and husband Frankie and Samantha Carter and husband Bret of Pampa, TX, Matthew Williams of Midland, TX, Sarah Williams of San Antonio, TX, Ruby Stroud of Brownsville, TX; 7 great grandchildren, Issac, Alexis, Evalyn Rodriguez, Kaleb House and Annslie Carter, Cody Whitley, Cattleya Renae Alvarado; twin sister, Lyndia Mills of Farmers Branch, TX; a brother, Nick Janssen of Brownsville, TX; her favorite aunt and her mother's sister, Hazel Janssen of Shamrock, TX; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends that were more like family.
The family would like to thank Trinity Fellowship Church of Pampa, Texas and Pastor Mike Borger, those who prayed for Sandra and ministered to her and led her to the Lord during her last few weeks. To Interim Hospice: Barbara Duree, Connie Day, Trina Allen, Penny Harvey, Ann Thompson, Dr. Sieck, Jomilou Williams, Doria Rothwell Watson, and Debbie Douglas.
In lieu of flowers, the family request and donations be made to Trinity Fellowship Church of Pampa or Interim Hospice.
