Sandra "Sandy" Lee D'Luge's Obituary
Sandra "Sandy" Lee D'Luge, 82, of Hedley, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.
Memorial graveside services will be held at Rowe Cemetery in Hedley at a later date.
Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Sandy was born on October 10, 1943, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Ralph Eldridge Glover and Virgie Aline (Crites) Glover until the family relocated to Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Tascosa High School, where she played the French Horn in band. As an adult, she moved back to Michigan and started a family, later moving to Claude, Texas. She lived in the country enjoying rural living with a lot of four-legged friends, refinishing antique furniture, and crocheting colorful blankets and throws.
Sandy's next chapter in life relocated her to Amarillo, Texas where she spent a lot of years before moving to Hedley, Texas where she made her last home for many decades.
Sandy worked at a Chrysler plant in Detroit, Michigan, and later as a housekeeper in Texas. She found great joy in cooking, and pot roasts were her favorite thing to make when people were coming to visit. She also loved to bake, and she took pride in making sure those she loved were well fed and cared for.
Something Sandy loved to do was sing, whether it was at a church, doing karaoke, or with the radio. She was a big fan of classic country music like Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, John Denver, and various others. She loved to go out dancing, and her warm personality helped her form many lasting friendships throughout her life.
One of Sandy's greatest joys was the special bond she shared with her granddaughter, Heaven Leigh Welch. She cherished their time together and is now joyfully reunited with her in Heaven. That is the one comfort her daughter (and Heaven's mother) has had in losing them both in such a short amount of time.
Sandy always appreciated beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the Texas horizon, but was not a fan of the wind. She is remembered fondly for her red and purple cans of Aqua Net hairspray and a rat-tail comb.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Austin Glover; her sisters, Lynn Glover and Pam Glover; and her beloved granddaughter, Heaven Leigh Welch.
She is survived by her daughter, D'Ann Slattery of Missouri; her brothers, Ron Glover and wife JoAnn, John Glover and wife Julie, her half-brother, Richie Goodson and wife Yvette; her granddaughter, Calista Slattery; her great-grandson, Corbin Saldana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandy will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the care she showed to everyone around her. She was loved by many people and touched a lot of lives during her time here on earth.
