MEMPHIS
GRAVESIDE SERVICES- 4:00 pm Friday, October 29, 2010 in The Chapel at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Rev. Dale Sexton, officiating.
INTERMENT- Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Military Honors by American Legion Post 175, Memphis, Texas.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Mr. Crawford passed away October 26, 2010 in Amarillo surrounded by his children.
Mr. Crawford was born October 24, 1921 in Newlin, Texas to Lorena and Homer C. Crawford, Sr. He had been a lifetime resident of Hall County and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1939. He married Wanda Faye Adcock on February 23, 1945 in Memphis. He was a US Coast Guard Veteran and served during the World War II. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 175 of Memphis, lifetime member of the VFW Post 7782 of Clarendon, and DAV life member. He had also served as the Hall County Veteran service officer. He also volunteered at the nursing home and helped with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Memphis. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Odyssey Hospice for the loving care shown to Mr. Crawford during his illness.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY- his parents; his wife, on January 18, 2000; 3 sons, Danny Crawford, Cecil Crawford, and C.W. Crawford; and a son in law, Jack Gerald.
SURVIVORS - 5 daughters, Lourena Gonce and husband Eddie of Hereford, Sue Roberts and husband Leon of Diana, Wanda Bennett and husband Bodie of Rankin, Rhonda Gerald and Sharon Armstrong and husband Michael all of Memphis; 2 daughters in law, Melinda Crawford of Baycliff and Stephanie Crawford of Whiteface; 2 brothers, H.C. Crawford of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kenneth Crawford of Germany; a sister, Jonnie Medart of Rockwall; 10 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
MEMORIALS - The family requests memorials be to the Fairview Cemetery Association or Memphis Meals on Wheels.
