Sally Ann Haynes Carter's Obituary
Former McLean resident, Sally Ann Haynes Carter, died Wednesday night from a sudden illness at her home at Cedar Creek Lake, near Dallas.
Services are set for 2 p.m.Tuesday, July 12, at United Methodist Church in McLean, with Rev. Ruby Moultrie, pastor of First Methodist in Pampa, and Rev. Thacker Haynes, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 Monday at the funeral home.
She graduated from McLean High School in 1980, where she was a member of the Tigerette basketball and track teams, an officer in FBLA, a cheerleader, and a member of the Tiger band. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University in 1984. After graduation, she moved to Dallas to work for Erle Rawlins Real Estate, and then in 1985 went to work for Morgan and Weisbrod, LLP, eventually becoming Carl Weisbrod’s office manager/paralegal.
In 1988, she married Shearaton Carter. They had two children, Shearaton and Alexandria. The marriage ended in 1995.
An avid Texas Tech and Texas Rangers fan, she loved watching and participating in sports.
She was preceded in death by her daddy, Sam Haynes, and her grandparents, Findlay and Lahoma Raines, Mae and Tom Looper, John and Minnie Haynes ; sisters, Alison and Heather Raines; and a nephew, Brandon Raines.
Survivors are her life partner, Jim Ball of Dallas; her children, Shearaton Carter and Alexandria Carter, and one grandson Jayden Thomas Waters; Jim’s children, Grant and Katie Ball; step-daughter Kamille Carlisle; step-sons Hunter and Parker Thornton; her mother, Linda Haynes of McLean; her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Raines of Mineola; siblings Thacker Haynes, Jennifer Evans, and Dollie Buckhaults, all of McLean; Kathy Duniven of Decatur; and Scott Raines of Oklahoma City; step-brother, Jason Raines; brothers-in-law Tex Buckhaults and Rick Evans; nieces, Kristina Luna, Xenia Andis, Minnie Buckhaults, Tessa Buckhaults, and Nori Buckhaults; nephews, Chris Evans, Jack Evans, J.T. Haynes, Charles Carter, Lee Buckhaults, and Albert Buckhaults; cousins, Tom Looper of Pittsburgh, , Sandra Barnes and Shawn Frische of Dumas, Sharon Haynes, Sheri Haynes, David Haynes, Sam Haynes, all of McLean, Mike Haynes of Amarillo, and Morse Haynes of Monahans; and her life-long friends and special same-age cousins, Lorie Cunningham of Wichita, Ks., Joni Golden of Atlanta, Ga., Marsha Robertson of Colorado, and Shawn Frische of Dumas; uncles, John M. Haynes of McLean and Lynn Raines of Oklahoma City; aunts, Marge Looper of Wichita, Ethel Barnes of Dumas; and a number of grand-nieces and nephews.
The family suggest memorials be sent to the MS Society or the United Methodist Church in McLean Angel Program.
