Roy Lee Henry

I met Roy at Mortuary school in 1972, at that time I was fresh out of High School. Roy and Sue took me under their wing and was a great help for me. Roy worked for Glen Richardson at the Funeral Home in Shamrock and I worked for Jay Claborn Funeral Home in Friona. Low and be hold Glen and Jay were old friends. They were both from McLean Texas, small world for two people to become friends as their employers were.
After a few months our group grew to 6 friends, Larry Reeves , Jerry Shives, Seth Stout,
C. T. Waller, Gary Phipps and Roy Henry. We all had lunches together on Friday at the Pizza Hut and on Saturday evening we all met at Little Bit of Sweden for supper. Everyone had spouses except Seth and I were single.
I just found Roy two months ago after years of separation from friendship. It is with great sadness that Roy and I were the last two friends living.
Thank you Roy and the rest of the gang for allowing me to be a part of your family.

Roy Henry was a good man and a friend. He told me many stories of his Vietnam experiences which he generally would not talk about. I remember how he went to the hospital every day to attend to his wife Susan while she was in hospice there and he was there when she suddenly awakened and asked where she was--scared everyone since she was supposedly dead. He continued to take care of her after that. Roy was my friend, a good husband, and a friend to many. Rest in Pease brother. LTC James C. Fling JA, USAR Ret..
