Rosetta A. Blakeslee's Obituary
Rosetta A. Blakeslee, of Wheeler, TX passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 in Wheeler at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 14 days. A family-led Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Mobeetie, TX with Thomas Halterman officiating.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors in Wheeler.
Rosetta was born December 7, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA to Herman and Lela Ezell. She grew up in Lake Charles, where she married Walter Earl Blakeslee, Jr. on November 27, 1956. Walter was in the U.S. Air Force, which led them many places over the years. After his retirement from the Air Force, they lived in Baytown, TX for over 25 years. They moved to Wheeler in 2001. Rosetta worked for many years as a bank teller. She loved spending time with her friends, especially playing Canasta and going to Bingo. She also enjoyed watching The Young and the Restless and was an avid Houston Astros fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lela Ezell; her husband, Walter Blakeslee, Jr.; and her daughter, Stephanie Umsted.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Blakeslee; 3 grandchildren, Wendy Tonguet, Cecil Pinder, and Chris Umsted; and 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Umsted and Dakota Tonguet.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 711, Wheeler, TX 79096.
