Rosemary Dodd's Obituary
Rosemary Dodd, 79, of Mobeetie, TX, passed away on February 19, 2021 in BSA Hospital in Amarillo, TX from COVID-19 and pneumonia.
Services are planned for 1:30 pm on Friday, February 26 at the United Methodist Church in Wheeler, TX with Matt Gary conducting. Burial will follow in the Gageby Cemetery on County Road DD & County Road 13, Canadian, TX.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Rosemary was born the only daughter to Charlie and Eula (Donnell) Boyd on August 25, 1941 in Lubbock, TX. She graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School in 1959 and entered Texas Tech University where she studied Home Economics. She married C. G. Dodd, Jr. on September 15, 1962 in Lubbock.
The Dodds spent most of their 58 years of marriage living on the family farm/ranch in north Wheeler County where Rosemary was a devoted wife and loving mother to their two children, Lisa and Joel. For 28 years Rosemary was a favorite with the kindergarten and first graders at Wheeler Elementary where she taught and conducted the Writing to Read program. In addition, Rosemary was an active member of the Wheeler United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and Wheeler County Retired School Personnel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Arthur Boyd and wife Bernice; Weldon Boyd, and R. B. Boyd and wife Jo; her father-in-law Grady Dodd, and brother-in-law John D. Foreman; her nephews Jimmy Boyd and Bruce Boyd, nieces Jeri Boyd Boucher and Shirley Boyd.
Survivors include her husband C. G. Dodd. Jr., daughter Lisa Dodd Bentley and husband Paul of Amarillo, TX and son Joel Dodd and wife Laura of Willis, TX.
Meme was a doting grandmother to Jessica (Robert) Ivy of Stinnett, TX, Ashley (Casey) Kennedy of Des Moines, NM, Brandon (Morgan) Dodd of Bella Vista, AR, Brandi Dodd of Abilene, TX, and Bradley Dodd of Searcy, AR, and great-grandmother to Cambrie Ivy, Nathan Kennedy, Tripp Ivy, and Grady Kennedy.
Other survivors also include Mary Margaret Dodd, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law Peggy Boyd, Jacque Foreman, and Diane (Jack) Cody. Numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins also mourn her death, including Larry (Janie) Boyd, Phillip (Bonnie) Boyd, Rick Boyd, Phyllis Boyd Clark, Jana Boyd (Scott) Hensley, Judi Boyd (Marty) Crabb, Sharee Foreman (Gary) Nieder, Laurie Foreman (Jon) Cox, and Dee Pinto-Rodrigues.
Rosemary will be profoundly missed by her family, neighbors, and friends. Her examples of patience, devotion, and loving kindness are a memory for everyone to treasure.
Serving as pallbearers for her service are grandsons Brandon Dodd, Bradley Dodd, Robert Ivy, Casey Kennedy and family friends Ike Finsterwald, and Bob Martin. Honorary pallbearers are our wonderful neighbors and friends.
