INTERMENT: Hillcrest Cemetery, McLean, TX

Rodney Roy Barker was born June 2, 1932 in McLean, TX to Roy and Jewel Marie Davidson Barker. Rodney graduated from McLean High School in 1949 and served in the Air Force. He married Martha Johnston on June 12, 1964 in Shamrock and had lived here for 47 years. Rodney was an active deacon in the Shamrock Church of Christ and was the owner of Roy Barker Drilling Co. and Barker Production Co. Rodney served on the Shamrock City council for several years; he was the Precinct Chairman for the Republican Party in Wheeler County; he enjoyed researching the pioneer history of the oil fields in this area; was a big supporter of the Shamrock Irish band and all sports; and he always enjoyed the time he had with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rebecca Stubbs.
