Robert Ray Pittman's Obituary
AMARILLO SERVICES- 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2005 in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Rev. James Ivy Edwards, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Colorado City, Texas, and Chaplain Chad Horton of Bivins Memorial Nursing Home in Amarillo, officiating. INTERMENT - Citizens Cemetery Ray was born in Chicota, Texas to Alvin and Alice McEwin Pittman. He moved with his family to Donley County in 1925, and served in the US Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946. He married LaRue Shadle on June 30, 1946 at Clarendon. He retired from ASARCO in 1975 after 29 years of employment. After retiring, he developed Tascosa Acres and Chaparral Acres in Amarillo and then returned to farming and ranching in Donley County until his death. He loved to work with livestock and raised champion quarter horses. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY - his father in 1971, his mother in 1991, a brother, Allen Pittman in 1999, and a sister, Ina Fay Phillips in 2001. SURVIVORS - his wife LaRue of Amarillo; one brother, Billy Mac Pittman and wife Ruth of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Jewell Wood of Green Valley, AZ and Christine Bain of Amarillo; 2 nephews, and 7 nieces. MEMORIALS - Citizens Cemetery Assn in Clarendon, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo, or First United Methodist Church in Clarendon
