Buck was born on June 18, 1951, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Robert and Merel Dollar. He married the love of his life, Donneta Dollar, in May 1978 in Lubbock, Texas. They shared nearly 30 years of marriage before Donneta’s passing. Buck was later blessed to love again and married Pamela Vera in August 2009 in Whitney, Texas.
Buck lived, loved, and volunteered in Wheeler for 46 years. He loved everything outdoors—especially hunting with his beloved English Pointers and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman who fished every chance he got. Buck was known as an extremely hard worker, both during his 42-year career in the natural gas industry and around his beautiful home.
A talented master carpenter, Buck crafted many beautiful pieces over the years, many of which are treasured by family and friends today. He had a deep interest in firearms—new, old, small, and even broken—and even made custom longbows. He generously shared his knowledge of firearm safety and use with people of all ages, near and far. Buck spent countless hours teaching his children and grandchildren how to survive, love, and appreciate the great outdoors.
Buck and his family were members of the Wheeler Church of Christ for more than 45 years, where he faithfully served as an elder for many years, up until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Merel Dollar, and his brother, Dennis Dollar.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Dollar of Wheeler; his daughter, Penny Clark and husband Rowdy of Canadian; his son, Ben Dollar and wife Krystal of Panhandle; his daughter, Stephanie Greer of Plano; his sister, Judy Thomas and husband Gene; his brother, Steve Dollar and wife Elgina of Glen Rose, Texas; his grandchildren, Dacey and Rylun Clark, Brecken Dollar, Brooke Childress, and Dalton Childress; and Pamela’s children, Fawn Fisher of Hoover, Alabama; Tessa Marie Vera of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Eva Vera of Cleburne, Texas.
