Rick Wright's Obituary
Rick Wright, of Shamrock, TX, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 in Shamrock at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 28 days. A family-led Graveside Inurnment will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 in the Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock and a Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:00 PM that afternoon at the American Legion George DeShazo Post 68 in Shamrock.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Rick was born on November 8, 1956 in Terre Haute, IN to Arthur Reid Wright and Helen Ann (Heck) Wright. Growing up in East Glenn, Rick was the middle child of three siblings. He made lifelong friends, organized neighborhood ball games, and was a natural athlete from an early age. If you knew Rick, you knew his love for baseball and The Beatles.
In 1974, Rick was inducted into the Navy, and he remained incredibly proud of his service to his country throughout his life. In 1981, Rick and his wife, Sylvia Wright, moved to Shamrock, Texas, where they raised their three sons: Adam, Artie, and Paul Wayne.
Rick devoted much of his life to baseball, the Shamrock American Legion, and being "Papa Rick" not only to his own grandchildren, but to generations of children and families throughout the Shamrock community. His kindness, mentorship, and love for others left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Reid and Helen Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Wright; three sons, Adam Wright, Artie Wright and Paul Wayne Wright; his grandkids, Baylee Wright, Jadyn Wright, Dalton Wright, Sean Wright, Paisley Wright and Tyler Wright; his great grandkids. Oliver Sacre and Liam Romero; and two siblings, Kathy Wright Canal and Tim Wright.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Legion George DeShazo Post 68, 124 S. Iowa, Shamrock, TX 79079.
