Richard also known as “Dickie” by most, was born April 1, 1928 in McLean to Perry and Vergie Heasley Everett. He married Effie Lou Carpenter on February 14, 1951 in McLean. He was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II and Korea. He had been a lifetime resident of McLean where he was a farmer/rancher and was very active in the community. He was the jack of all trades. He raised black angus cattle, alfalfa hay, and was one of the first people to establish lovegrass in the area. He was an avid hunter, trumpet player, and also built stocktrailers. He was also a licensed gunsmith and electrician. Richard was the first republican voting judge in McLean, past president of the McLean Country Club, former school board member, cemetery board member, and Farm Bureau board. He loved to square dance and was very active in the VFW Post 8565 in McLean. He was a member of the McLean Church of Christ.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – his parents; a son, James M. Everett in 1974; 3 brothers, Perry S. Everett, Jr., James Everett, and Kenneth B. Everett.
SURVIVORS – his wife, Effie Lou Everett of McLean; a daughter, Jenny Everett Fry and husband Gary of McLean; two grandchildren, Christie Townson of McLean and Jamie LoCricchio and husband Travis of Colorado Springs, CO; three great grandchildren, Chelsey Sims, Trevor Townson, and Angelina LoCricchio; and one great great grandchild, Sawyer Hofmann.
MEMORIALS- The family request memorials be sent to the Hillcrest Cemetery Association or the McLean/Alanreed Area Museum.
