Portia Diane Thurman's Obituary
Portia Diane Thurman, 82, of Denver, CO, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Denver.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Country Church of Amarillo with Tom Hightower officiating. Burial will follow in Groom Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Portia was born March 30, 1941 and died on December 7, 2023. She was adopted by Lottie and Preston Harden in October 1941. She attended grade school in Leaky, Texas and moved to Groom in 1954. She graduated from Groom High School in 1959. She attended W.T.S.U in Canyon and Amarillo College. Portia married Bill Thurman in 1960. She had four children. She lived in Amarillo from the early 90s until 2018 and worked in B.S.A, Ware Memorial and Good Care Home Health. She lived in North Dakota and Colorado since 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lottie and Preston Harden, her daughter Melissa Thurman and her brother Micheal Harden.
She is survived by her sons Edwin Todd Thurman of Watford City North Dakota, Bill Thurman of Round Rock Texas, and Gary Thurman of Aurora Colorado. She enjoyed being a grandmother and great grand mother to several children. She was an avid reader, enjoy crocheting and needle point. Most importantly she was a servant of God.
