Peggy was born November 19, 1927, in Kress, Texas, to Nathan and Kitty Lawler. She lived most of her life in Armstrong County. She was a graduate of Goodnight High School and married B. C. "Doc" Minkley on February 10, 1945. They farmed and ranched near Claude until his passing in 1997. Peggy was a homemaker who cared lovingly for her husband and family, and she always made her guests feel welcomed. She was thoughtful and kind and often spent her time helping others. She was willing to sit with the sick or drive them to doctor's appointments if needed. Her friends knew she was always willing to share her time. Peggy was an avid bridge player having earned the highest ranking of Life Master. She played golf and taught others to play. She loved to play any type of game, and in the last few years, her home was always open to anyone who might want to enjoy a fun game. She also loved to travel and took most of her family on trips abroad. Those who knew Peggy knew of her love and faith in Christ. She was a faithful student of the Bible. She taught Young People’s and Ladies’ Bible classes for many years at Claude Church of Christ. Peggy’s greatest enjoyment came from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Doc raised three sons and one daughter. They were delighted to watch their eleven grandchildren grow up and graduate from Claude High School. Peggy and Doc were faithful supporters of all their activities and spent many years watching athletic events, stock shows, and any other place where one or more of their grandkids could be found. Peggy’s family was her most precious treasure, and she made each one feel special to her. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to God and family will live on into new generations.
