Pedro was born March 12, 1952 in Nieves, Zacatecas, Mexico to Feliciano and Santos (Alvarez) Soto. He left school in the 1st grade to work. At the age of 13, he traveled to the United States to work and help provide for his family. He later met the love of his life, Hermila Mendoza, and they were married December 28, 1975, and celebrated their 50th anniversary last month.
Pedro loved to watch all sports, especially soccer. He loved farming and ranching and watching his garden grow – which he shared with all those he loved. He also spent time in California harvesting fruits and vegetables. He later returned to Wheeler and worked at the Wheeler Feed Yard for over 25 years. Pedro then purchased and ran his own business, Soto’s Family Restaurant in Wheeler, which is still in operation today. Above all, Pedro loved his family and friends, always giving unconditionally. His grandkids were his one and only priority.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Feliciano and Santos; brothers, Tobias Soto, Simon Soto, Pedro Soto and Carmelo Soto; and sisters, Juana Soto and Elisa Soto.
Pedro is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hermila Soto; 3 daughters, Sonia Soto and husband, Alejandro Barrios of Wheeler, Teresa Soto of Wheeler, and Yuri Soto and husband, Sergio Lopez of Wheeler; grandchildren, Selena and Joan Lopez, Sayra, Sayhden and Stetson Lopez; brothers, Jose Soto and Gregorio Soto; sisters Josefina Soto and Ines Soto; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
