SHAMROCK SERVICES- 2:00 PM Monday, March 25, 2013 in the First Baptist Church in Shamrock with Cottie Tarbet and Rev. Mike Martin, officiating. INTERMENT: Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock Gene Payne was born June 30, 1932 in Tulia, TX to Chester and Ruby Boney Payne. He married Ann Powell on April 4, 1953 in Turkey, TX. Gene served in the US Army and the National Guard. He lived in Shamrock most of his life; was a plumber and was dedicated to his work at Payne Plumbing and Electric. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a part of the Kairos Prison Ministry; he also served on the City Council for three terms. He was known for his generous heart, enjoyed going to his place at the river and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents. SURVIVORS: Wife, Ann Payne of Shamrock; 1 Son, Kent Payne & wife Becky of Shamrock; 2 Daughters, Brenda Dyson & husband Ronnie of Pampa and Carol Bentley & husband Ricky of Amarillo; his mother, Marcille Payne of Wheeler; 1 Brother, Thomas Mason of Highlands Ranch, CO; 1 Sister, Colleene Swedlow of Vida, OR; a brother in law, Johnny Powell of Shamrock; 6 Grandchildren, Kyle Payne & wife Leane of Fairfield, TX; Kelsey Payne & Kody Payne of Blanchard, OK; Ryan Bentley of Amarillo; Amanda Dyson of San Francisco, CA; Candace Crowell & husband Travis of Amarillo; 2 Great Grandchildren, Kynzee & Korbyn Payne of Fairfield, TX.
