Pauline "Polly" Benson's Obituary
AMARILLO, formerly of SHAMROCK
MEMORIAL SERVICES– 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in First United Methodist Church in Shamrock with Jerry Bell, pastor with Park Place in Amarillo, and Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock, officiating.
INURNMENT – Private family inurnment will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Cremation and Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Polly was born February 11, 1917 in Hedley, Texas to John Rufus and Eula Gray Anderson Benson. Polly enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano. She had been a music teacher for a short time before accepting the position of Executive Secretary with Travelers Insurance Company in their Dallas office. She had lived in Dallas for about 20 years before moving back to Shamrock. While in both Shamrock and Dallas, Polly loved to play bridge and was a member of a bridge club in both towns. In 2003, Polly moved to Amarillo, but while in Shamrock, she was always very active in the First United Methodist Church in Shamrock, where she was also a member.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – her parents; a brother, Lyman Gray Benson in October of 2004; and by a nephew, Lyman Gray Benson II, in March of 2009.
SURVIVORS – a niece, Sue Campbell of Georgetown, Texas; a great nephew, Grayson Benson and girlfriend Janna Whaley of Amarillo; 2 great-great nieces, Cheyenne and Averie Benson, both of Amarillo; and by several cousins.
MEMORIALS - The family request memorials be sent to the Salvation Army or a favorite charity of choice.
