Nolan Lee Sanders' Obituary
Nolan Lee Sanders, 90, of Claude, Texas died Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Claude Cemetery in Claude, Texas with Johnathan Clubb, officiating.
Viewing will be held Friday at Robertson's in Claude with family receiving friends for visitation from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Arrangements are by Robertson Claude Chapel.
Nolan was born June 15, 1932 in Loving, Texas to Walter Garrett and Suvania Sheppard Sanders. He married Winnie Lou Renfro on June 1, 1957 in Clayton, New Mexico. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1954-1956.
A lifetime resident of Claude, Nolan was a member of the First Baptist Church and Claude Masonic Lodge #719. He had served as Grand Master of the Claude Masonic Lodge and served as a District Deputy Grand Master in 1977. Farming and ranching were Nolan's life, and he worked as a rural mail carrier for the US Post Office for 30 plus years. He loved playing dominos and was an avid 42 player. He was proud of the legacy he created with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The Nolan Sanders family would like to thank the staff at The Continental, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, and Judy Duke for their exceptional care.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winnie on December 8, 2019; a brother, Billy Doc Minkley; and a grandson, Derek Scott Merrell.
Survivors include his son, Jimmy Sanders and wife Shawna of Amarillo; his daughter, Vicky Merrell and husband Bruce of Iowa Park; one sister, Dorothy Simmons of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Monica Clubb, Stefanie Merrell, Jennifer Merrell, Erin Douglas, Judson, Dustin, and Tanner Sanders, and Colbie Sanders; 15 great-grandchildren, Ty, Alexis, Avyn, Brecklynn, Reydon, Nash, Talley Kate, Jhett, Elizabeth, Tinsley, Lawson, Kyan, Treyzen, Zayne, and Baylor.
The family request memorials be sent to Continental Retirement Center in Amarillo.
